Smartron unveils AI-powered IoT ecosystem
August 24, 2017
Indian technology company Smartron has unveiled an AI-powered IoT ecosystem under the name Tron X. Devices, sensors and systems can be connected to a core, offering intelligent, evolving experiences and services initially targeting personal, home, health and B2B verticals.
“Smartron has been working for more than two years on creating a new connected ecosystem fuelled by AI plus IoT and Tron X is at the core of this brave new world,” said Mahesh Lingareddy, founder and chairman of Smartron. “We are proud and excited to unveil Tron X, a first of its kind AI powered IoT platform and a kind of next gen OS designed to run seamlessly across a wide range of devices, sensors, vehicles and systems. This allows us to deliver highly intelligent and localised experiences, services and care support critical to IoT success.”
He said that hardware innovation spurred by IoT and AI was the next big wave in technology.
“With this launch, we are opening up an ecosystem to our partners that is Indian at its roots and global in its outlook,” he said. “We already have many companies that have partnered with us in delivering innovative hardware and software.”
To begin with, Smartron announced four verticals that are in the works at their R&D facility: Tron X Personal, Health, Home and Infra.
Tron X Personal offers personalised and localised entertainment, travel, shopping, financial, health, event, communications and collaboration experiences across devices and contexts. With Tron X Health, the OS monitors and manages medical history and insurance data, and offers intuitive and preventive technology from a range of partners that are already on board.
Tron X Home is a smart home offering that goes beyond just connecting a few devices in the house. It helps control locking mechanisms, security updates, home appliances, services such as water, electricity and payment modules for these services, all available through a voice-activated assistant.
And Tron X Infra is the B2B vertical offering with an AI assisted system that covers a range of monitoring and management services such as building management, security, lighting, climate, tracking and connectivity for buildings, retail, warehouses, cold storage, trucking, logistics and so on. Currently being run as pilot programmes with a number of corporate establishments, Infra could help increase productivity and security and grow both revenue and profits.
While the company is aiming to launch its own devices and products that will run with Tron X, it is also looking at working with partners, companies and teams to bring in a larger set of devices that can be integrated with Tron X seamlessly. With this launch, Smartron is opening up its backend API to other start-ups that may be developing niche services that can be integrated into a larger platform for a mass audience.
Smartron was founded in August 2014 with a vision to build India’s first true global technology OEM brand that is designed and engineered in India for India and the world.
