Sisense adapts Amazon Echo for virtual analytics

Business Intelligence firm Sisense has launched the first in a range of devices that it says will bridge the world of data, devices and human perceptions. Instead of gleaning data intelligence from computer screens, Sisense's Business Intelligence Virtually Everywhere programme aims to turn the home and work environment into a backdrop for data insights. The first two devices that support this aim are a Sisense-enabled Amazon Echo and a Sisense-enabled IoT lightbulb.
According to Sisense, these innovations take BI beyond the 2D screen and "enable a more intuitive and emotional connection to data insights using all senses, resulting in increased engagement and adoption".
Sisense says that early customers such as Act-On Software, Skullcandy and CTSI-Global are already seeing positive tangible impact from the new capabilities with the Sisense BI Virtually Everywhere programme.

Sisense’s integration with Amazon’s Echo brings BI beyond the screen and into employees’ natural environments, using the power and simplicity of natural language. This is the first opportunity for AI to humanize data consumption, allowing business users to move beyond the confining two dimensions of screens and interact more naturally with their data by asking questions and hearing results in real time. The ease of conversation drives increased engagement with data and opens access to BI insights.

The Sisense-enabled IoT lightbulb creates another new way to consume business insights. The ambient light is a subtle but ever-present representation of how business users are progressing toward a specific business metric. The emotional response triggered by the Sisense-enabled IoT lightbulb, as it changes color in response to changing business conditions and KPIs, has shown to increase user engagement, motivation and drive behavior.
“We have seen a 500% increase in user engagement as a result of the Sisense IoT bulb,” said Todd Winton, of CTSI-Global. “When rolling out a new software system, we tied the bulb to a threshold monitoring system logins across our employees. Below the threshold value, the bulb was red. Before utilizing the Sisense bulb, we were seeing just a few daily logins, but once we connected the bulb and put it in an open space that all the employees could see, system logins grew immediately. People did not like seeing red. This simple tool impacted our team to a greater extent than anyone expected.”
