PodsystemM2M and Ingenu have entered a strategic partnership for distribution of random phase multiple access (RPMA) technology for wireless M2M communications.
California-based Ingenu and UK firm Podsystem hope the partnership will let both companies expand their connectivity offering to the M2M and IoT market in the USA and beyond. Podsystem M2M will be the first distribution partner of Ingenu's RPMA technology.
This is an important strategic move for Podsystem, whose M2M and IoT connectivity products have, until now, been based on cellular technology. This agreement will let it expand its portfolio into the LPWA space, opening up opportunities in verticals such as smart cities and smart grids, as well as providing a reliable, scalable and long-term alternative to cellular connectivity for users across all sectors.
“The decision by most US cellular carriers to sunset their 2G networks has highlighted the need for systems integrators and applications developers to build agnostic solutions that can be quickly adapted to changes in the market,” said Sam Colley, CEO of Podsystem. “PodsystemM2M is committed to providing connectivity that will help its customers achieve this goal. The addition of Ingenu’s RPMA technology to our range of multi-network and multi-IMSI cellular services will give customers the ability to build flexible and future-proofed applications.”
Podsystem and Ingenu are closely aligned in that both companies have a strong focus on research and innovation.
“Ingenu’s partnership with PodsystemM2M will provide IoT application developers with a powerful alternative to cellular connectivity,” said John Horn, CEO of Ingenu. “We look forward to collaborating with PodsystemM2M as we expand the global reach of RPMA technology across a variety of industries.”
Podsystem’s mission since its inception in 1999 has been to investigate and develop new ways of giving the control of the connectivity back to its customers. Ingenu’s RPMA technology has been designed specifically with these requirements in mind and the result is a technology that provides coverage, capacity and scalability, extreme battery life, full-featured value, and decades of network longevity. With its use of one global wireless band and designed exclusively for machine-specific communications, Ingenu ensures that devices on its RPMA network can remain untouched in the field for decades.
As a division of Podsystem Group, PodsystemM2M forms part of an independent MVNO specialising in data connectivity for the M2M and business travel sectors. The company specialises in multi-network and multi-IMSI data, offering coverage worldwide, flexible pricing plans and 24-hour support.
Ingenu is building a wireless network dedicated to LPWA connectivity for machines only. Operating on universal spectrum, the company’s RPMA technology is for connecting IoT and M2M devices around the world, with 38 private networks deployed over seven years.
