Intel shakes up IoT leadership
April 7, 2016
Intel has announced that the head of its Internet of Things division, Doug Davis, is retiring from Intel at the end of 2016. Another top Intel executive, Kirk Skaugen, who heads the company’s Client Computing Group is also leaving the company. Skaugen will exit the company just five days after Intel announced his leaving.
The Client Computing Group, which supplies products aimed at desktop and laptop computers, has suffered declining sales recently. Weakening demand for PC based desktop and home computers has been blamed for the Client Computing Group’s falling revenues.
In November, Intel appointed Venkata Renduchintala as president of its IoT and Client Computing Group businesses. His appointment was seen as diminishing the roles of both Davis and Skaugen.
