CK Hutchison-owned Three Group has extended its move into IoT marketplace through a partnership with Cisco Jasper.
From mid-2017, Three Group’s enterprise customers wanting to launch IoT services will be able to do so using Cisco Jasper’s Control Center connectivity management platform. They will be able to access Control Center locally through Three’s national networks, while global customers will have the option of accessing Control Center through Hue, Three’s mobile enabling services division.
Three Group, which is part of the Hong Kong-based conglomerate CK Hutchison, serves more than 90 million users across three continents using networks built for fast mobile data. This partnership represents a significant move by Three to extend its capabilities in the burgeoning IoT space, leveraging its portfolio of high-speed mobile networks to the advantage of the IoT market.
“Speed, flexibility and control are key to powering connected devices on a global scale,” said Jarrod Nink CEO at Hue. “Through our global footprint of high-speed mobile networks built for mobile data, and Cisco Jasper’s powerful platform, our customers will enjoy an edge in the IoT market for years to come. This partnership will put Three at the heart of the global IoT marketplace and offers huge potential to our enterprise customers.”
Three sees significant demand for the Control Center platform in all its markets and particularly in connected cars, building security and automation, and transport and logistics sectors.
Connected car initiatives enable car makers worldwide to transform their vehicles into connected hubs capable of delivering services that enhance the driver’s experience, drive new revenue and deliver R&D insight into vehicle performance. As the autonomous car market evolves, the role of reliable, automated connectivity will be critical to the delivery of on-going services. Cisco Jasper has a history in the connected car market, with 50 of the world’s largest automotive brands using Control Center for their connected car initiatives.
Connectivity has also transformed how people interact with both commercial properties and their homes, making them more efficient, secure and responsive to needs. The services that make these outcomes possible have changed both experiences and expectations, and are becoming increasingly essential. The more people value these services, the more pivotal connectivity becomes, which is why many of the world’s largest building security and automation providers rely on the Cisco Jasper platform.
Finally, the IoT is a critical enabler for optimising and automating transportation and logistics businesses. With real-time location views and comprehensive historical data, the Jasper Control Center platform helps companies improve fleet performance and business efficiency at the point of departure, during carriage and at the point of arrival.
Beyond telecommunications, CK Hutchison operates businesses globally in the ports, retail, infrastructure and energy sectors. These sectors are rapidly seeking IoT services to streamline and improve business functionality and insight.
Control Center is the IoT connectivity management platform of choice of over 9000 enterprises worldwide. It lets these companies rapidly and efficiently launch, manage and monetise their IoT services, while providing the flexibility for businesses to scale those IoT services worldwide to meet the changing needs and expectations of their customers.
“Innovative enterprises in every industry are already utilising Control Center today to enhance their customers’ IoT experiences and generate new, on-going revenue sources,” said Kalle Ward, managing director for EMEAR at Cisco Jasper. “Cisco Jasper has been powering these real IoT successes for more than ten years, and our connectivity management platform helps businesses automate and manage the delivery of their IoT services globally. We are delighted that the Three Group, with its high-speed mobile networks built for data and its multinational footprint, has selected Cisco Jasper as its partner to deliver IoT simplicity.”
Hue is Three Group’s end-to-end mobile enabling business. Leveraging the Three Group’s global footprint, MVNO and IoT customers can connect to operators with a single point of contact and integration.
The Three Group and its affiliated companies operate in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Ireland, Macau, Sri Lanka, Sweden, UK and Vietnam. Hue is a member of CK Hutchison, a multi-national conglomerate headquartered in Hong Kong.
