Anaren and NXP make life easier for IoT developers
October 10, 2017
New York-based Anaren’s IoT group is partnering Dutch company NXP Semiconductors to make embedded-to-cloud IoT development easier for developers
The companies are integrating Atmosphere, Anaren’s IoT creation environment, into NXP’s upcoming rapid prototyping IoT development kits.
“We are very pleased to form a strategic partnership with NXP,” said Jeff Liebl, president of Anaren’s IoT group. “Separately, each company has delivered tens of thousands of wireless development kits over the past few years. Together, Anaren’s IoT group and NXP will provide a unique, tightly integrated solution to serve the burgeoning mass market community of IoT developers.”
Anaren and NXP are working together to simplify and accelerate the onboarding process for developers looking to build and deploy quickly new, wirelessly connected offerings, across a broad range of consumer, commercial and industrial categories.
“As the mass market IoT developer community expands, we want to make their lives easier with best-in-class rapid prototyping that gives access to the vast NXP portfolio,” said Sid Shaw, senior director for NXP. “It’s all about enabling customers to rapidly take their idea from concept to prototype, and Anaren’s Atmosphere IoT software platform is highly innovative in making IoT application development accessible.”
According to Vision Mobile, developers focused on creating IoT services are the fastest growing audience, expected to reach nearly ten million by 2020. Additionally, On World forecasts annual chipset shipments associated with the deployment of wireless sensor networks to grow rapidly from less than a billion in 2017 to more than 2.5 billion in 2021.
“In order to efficiently and profitably address this large and diverse developer community, software and hardware suppliers are relying on more powerful and better-integrated automation tools such as Atmosphere,” said Liebl.
Since its inception, Anaren’s IoT group has enabled millions of wirelessly connected things, using Bluetooth Smart, Zigbee, wifi and proprietary RF technologies. The group offers its Atmosphere IoT cloud software, integrated sensor-to-cloud products and related professional services to IoT developers and commercial customers.
